Talib Kweli headlining The 7th Annual Black August concert

The 7th Annual Black August concert will take place at BB Kings in New York City on August 8th. Black August focuses on conscious hip-hop music and brings light to the plight of political prisoners. Headlining this year's concert will be Talib Kweli and Common. Other artists scheduled to appear include Jean Grae, Flo Brow, and Saigon. Artists such as Mos Def, Erykah Badu, Keith Murray and The Roots have previously played at Black August.

BLIGE, MISSY BITE INTO'SHARK TALE' : Artists sing 70s jams for soundtrack. *Missy Elliott and Christina Aguilera will team for a remake of the 1977 Rose Royce hit "Car Wash" while Mary J. Blige takes on Cheryl Lynn' s dance floor staple "Got to Be Real" for the soundtrack to the animated DreamWorks film "Shark Tale."

  Mos Def has 'Danger' on his mind

Rapper Mos Def will release his long-in-the-works sophomore solo album, "The New Danger," Sept. 28 via Geffen. The 18-track set will feature the tracks "Boogie Man," "Ghetto Rock," "Close Edge," "Y.E.A." and "Bed Stuy Parade and Funeral March," among others. Mos Def was previously signed to Rawkus, which was absorbed earlier this year into Geffen.

  Snoop Dogg preps new album for fall release

Grammy nominated recording artist and multi-media star Snoop Dogg is recording an album tentatively titled R&G: (Rhythm & Gangsta) The Masterpiece to be released this fall. The album is set to be released November 16th as a co-production between Doggy Style and Star Trak, through Geffen Records.
